Del Mar Lodge 1350 conducted its Annual Texas Public Schools Week Celebration in conjunction with the presentation of the Lamar Awards to several exceptional individuals to recognize their educational achievement. The Lodge also awarded a $2,000 scholarship to local school teacher. We also be honored Mr. Thomas J. Henry with the Community Builders Award. Past Master Joe DeLeon was awarded in 25-Year Service Award. There was an exceptional meal served at 6:00PM with the program following. This was an Open Program and the public was invited. There were 59 people in attendance.

They were recognized for their role in promoting reading and literacy, and as media specialist for the IT & Media Specialist for their campuses and the educating of students in computer knowledge and skills. Each received the Lamar Medal and Certificate issued by the Grand Lodge of Texas. Mr. Thomas J Henry was awarded the Community Builders Award for his loyal contributor to a number of causes.

Lamar Awards Presentations
The Lamar Medal Program was begun in 1988 by the Grand Lodge of Texas. The award is called "The Lamar Award of Excellence for Personal Achievement." The Lamar Award may be presented to a deserving student of the public school system of Texas who has shown great achievement and demonstrates high moral character, values and personal attributes consistent with those promoted by the Grand Lodge of Texas. It can also be presented to an employee of the public school system of Texas who has influenced students to strive for excellence over an extended period of time and demonstrates high moral character, values and personal attributes consistent with those promoted by the Grand Lodge of Texas.
Del Mar Lodge 1350 presented awards for 2019 to three students and three librarians. Student Recipients were: Jesse Justin Maldonando-Haas Middle School, Mya Martinez & Isabella Mendoza-Meadowbrook Elementary School. Librarians were: Aliene Leal-Travis Elementary, Mary Beth Tierce-Meadowbrook and Sonya Lynch-Woodlawn Elementary. |

Thomas J Henry Awarded the Community Builder Award 2019
Thomas J. Henry is a loyal contributor to a number of causes, including the American Cancer Society, American Heart Association, American Red Cross, and the Special Olympics. Throughout the year, he sponsors youth basketball camps put on by NBA stars, including former Spurs players Danny Green and Tony Parker, giving deserving kids a chance to improve their skills and learn from the best. Every October, the firm hosts "Bark in the Park," a community event that raises thousands of dollars for local pet charities. Each November, the Thomas J. Henry Turkey Giveaway provides Thanksgiving turkeys to thousands of families in Texas. For two decades, Thomas J. Henry has helped families in need, the sick, the poor, and the disabled have Thanksgiving dinner.
Mr. Henry also consistently contributes to educational causes. For years, his iPad giveaway program provided needy students with computers for school, and he and his family enjoy donating their time and resources to child-centric causes like SA YES, the Elf Louise Christmas Project, and Child Safe. Additionally, Mr. Henry oversees the Thomas J. Henry Leadership Scholarship Program, a biannual scholarship program that provides $1,000 to deserving students.
