2018 Celebration of Texas Public Schools and the awarding of Lamar Awards and ScholarshipsDel Mar Lodge 1350 held its annual program on Wednesday, February 21, 2018 with a meal at 6:00PM and the program at 7:00PM. The Lodge Committee on Education and Awards met to select individuals from the local area public schools who displayed expectional and continuing academic and educational achievement in Education Leadership, Teaching, Counseling, Services and Scholarship. They also worked closely with area College and Career Counselors to find students "in the Middle" to receive two $1,000 education scholarships.
The program was an Open Meeting meaning the public was invited to enjoy the meal, the short talk and presentations. The Master of the Lodge, Joe Privott start the festivities with a pray and pledge to the American flag and honor of the Texas flag. He then turned the program over the Junior Past Master, Vince Muscarello, Ed.D who emceed the evenings celebration after giving a short talk on Freemasonry and Texas Public Education. He also give a brief description of Freemasonry and its origins and talked about its guiding principles. The Worshipful Master, Joe Privott and Senior Warden, Kason Anderson made the presentations of the Lamar Awards to the two Educational Leaders, Principals Lydna DeLeon, Ed.D. and LaTricia Johnson, Ed.D. They then assisted in making the presentations to their educators and students. This was followed by the awarding of two $1,000 scholarship to Mary Carroll High School Seniors Heidi Perdue and Syriah Villagas with their parents in the East along side of them. At the conclusion of the program, refreshements were served in the dinning room. We want to thank all those who attended, especially our District Deputy Grand Master, Right Worshipful Manuel Lugo.
