The 2015 Take Time to Read Program
(TTTR) is being conducted by Del Mar Masonic
Lodge 1350 in partnership with Texas Masonic Grand Lodge and the Scottish Rite
Hospital for Children and is inviting District elementary school students to
participate in the Learn to Read Program.
Take Time to Read Program is a statewide campaign designed to celebrate and encourage reading by asking elementary students to Take Time to Read every day and record the minutes they read. As an incentive, students who read daily, complete the minutes read on their Take Time to Read calendar and return them to the Masons from Del Mar Masonic Lodge 1350 by the April 7 deadline will receive a certificate and prize.
School Administrators determine how many classroom teachers may be interested in the program. The focus is on grades 2-5; however grades Kindergarten – 1st grade may also participate. The schools program coordinator notifies Del Mar Lodge’s Take Time to Read Chairperson who will order and then deliver the calendars to the school in the latter part of February. Students begin reading on March 1 and conclude on March 31. During the first week of April, the Masonic Lodge representative will collect the completed calendars from the schools and mail them to the Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children who will compile certificates and prizes, and mail them to Del Mar Masonic Lodge 1350 who will take the certificates and prizes to the school to share with the students. Each teacher with students who turn in calendars will receive a thank you gift for supporting this project.
