Take Time To Read 2017
The 2017 Take Time to Read Program (TTTR) was conducted by Del Mar Masonic Lodge 1350 in partnership with Texas Masonic Grand Lodge and the Scottish Rite Hospital for Children in Dallas and included Elementary Schools from Corpus Christi ISD and West Oso ISD. Over 3,000 calendars were distributed to the elementary school students who participated in the Learn to Read Program.
Take Time to Read Program is a statewide campaign designed to celebrate and encourage reading by asking elementary students to Take Time to Read every day and record the minutes they read. As an incentive, students who read daily, complete their Take Time to Read calendar and return them to the Masons from Del Mar Masonic Lodge 1350, received a certificate and a backpack. In the initial phases of the program, the Lodge collected information on who would participate so materials could be ordered. The materials arrived in late January 2017 and were delivered to the schools. The students started tracking their reading time starting March 1, 2017 and concluded on March 31, 2017. Their data was collected the week of April 10, 2017, and forwarded to the TTTR Office at the Scottish Rite Hospital in Dallas, who evaluated the information and shipped prizes and certificates back to us to distribute to all the students who participated. You are invited to view the progress of the TTTR 2017 and previous years on this website and on our Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/DelMar1350/.
