The Drop Everything and Read (DEAR) is a national program, and will be conducted in CCISD on DEAR Day on November 20, 2016 started at 8:15AM. The Librarian, Julie Putman, who serves Wilson, Calk and Montclair Elementary Schools asked for and received assistance from members of Del Mar Lodge and other Masonic and Shrine Bodies. The word was disseminated through social media and several Masonic bulletin boards and newsletter. She reports the program was a success. Thanks to all.
On a side note, she is has a Masonic Legacy, her grandfather was a Mason. Additionally, several other educators at these schools have one or more Freemasons in their family. She was looking for ~35 DEAR Readers. She had books ready for those that showed up to select from, and were used to read to the class.
Please give careful consideration, if you have the time, to help as a mentor or volunteer to help in various capacities; contact Julie Putman at mailto:Julia.Putman@ccisd.us or call her at 361-739-8581. Yes her name is Julie, but her email is Julia. Help out and SHARE this to all you think might be interested and able to help by volunteering.
