I thought it appropriate to start with a picture of my wife, Shirley, and I. Her support in all my endeavors makes it possible for me to do the things I do, especially my involvement in Masonic organizations. When we have Lodge functions, be they at Del Mar Lodge, Corpus Christi Lodge or Oso Naval Lodge, she has and continues to be by my side or in the background. She is especially a Treasure to my participation in the Shrine. Being on the Divan takes an enormous amount of your personal resources: time, money, and being there for the numerous events. Without your wife being there with you, heart and soul, it is an impossible task. I consider her my number one asset, not just in my Masonic life, but in our personal life.
I would venture to say the same holds true for all actively involved Masons. Masonry is a way of life. It is a family centered organization. Living by your obligations makes you not only a better man, but a better husband, father, grandparent, community center citizen. It is the purpose and hope of this blog, and our Lodge website, that we will be able to share with others our living up to our Lodge's motto: "Obligated to God, Country, Family and Community".
